The meaning of Selampit is a story teller. Selampit is widely distributed in the states of Perlis, Kedah and Kelantan. This tradition is a kind of influential creator who entertainsthe hearts of the people in the past, as well as developing the literature of our people. Selampit is a radio, television, movie or story books at that time. Selampit will travel from somewhere to somewhere and from a house to a house to present the stories he has taken.

Selampit Raja Besar Ho Gading was played by famous Selampit figure, Saari Abdullah. The story of the Raja Besar Ho Gading is one of the most popular stories besides Anak Raja Gondang, Eneng Tajali dan Dewa Indera Dewa. Raja Besar Ho Gading with his Queen, Puteri Seliput Layu. They were blessed with seven handsome princes, Raja Sulong, Raja Tengah, Raja Muda , Raja Chik, Raja Alang, Raja Kecik and Raja Bongsu. All the princes were well trained in the art of governance and warfare. But as he grew old, the King delayed appointing his heir-apparent. He worried about the future of his kingdom for he cared deeply about his people.

As the fortune teller begins reading out his premonitions, the King learns that the fate of his kingdom will only be safe in the hands of his youngest son, ‘Raja Bongsu’;. Jealous and frustrated by the King’s favour of the youngest prince, the eldest prince Raja Sulung leads his brothers in a plot to kill Raja Bongsu. Will he succeed and claim his throne?
